Alexis lived in an affordable housing development for six years before she received her own Section 8 voucher. This enabled her to move to a privately owned house. A year later, she went to the management office of her former affordable housing development and made the final payment on a bill owed when she left.

During that visit Alexis was asked to apply for an Administrative Assistant position in that same management office. She got the job.

“Once I started working in the office, I was able to learn the compliance side of the different affordable housing programs,” she says. “I have much gratitude to the two staff managers there for believing in me and creating that solid foundation for me to build on and fuel my passion for this industry. They still inspire me to this day.”

Now she, her husband, three children and four cats own a house in Florida. And, for the past three years, Alexis has worked at US Housing Consultants where she is currently a Senior Compliance Analyst in the Special Projects department.

“Our department is responsible for processing certifications remotely for our clients,” she says. “More recently I have been working closely with our new Entryway service which will be revolutionary for this industry for both management agents and their residents and applicants.”

A Passion for Affordable Housing

To say she has a passion for the Affordable Housing industry may be an understatement.

“This industry is not only import to me, its who I am, “she says. “My passion for all this industry has to offer is embedded into what I stand for. I know every day when I come to work, I am exactly where I am meant to be. Without the compliance services we provide, there is no affordable housing for future families.”

She says she’s thrilled to be providing those services at US Housing Consultants.

“US Housing Consultants provides the type of culture one could hope for,” she says. The Company has this thing about it that keeps you inspired. The people here are more than co-workers, we are a family. US-HC is filled with passionate, valuable people who all come together for the sole purpose of continuing to make affordable housing better together.

“Here I not only have a job, but a career I both love and am so passionate about. By working at USHC I have been able to focus on accomplishing my goals at work and out of work. Working remotely has been a blessing for myself and my family.”
