The ACE Certifications are respected credentials that demonstrate a housing professional’s in-depth knowledge of affordable housing programs. Earning this designation enhances professional credibility, strengthens organizational compliance efforts, and ensures applicants and residents receive the highest standard of service.
How do you earn an ACE Certification?
To earn an ACE Certification, you must attend one of our training classes in the subject area of the designation within the past six months. Participants cannot register for the exam by itself without first completing the required training.
What ACE designations do you offer?
We offer several ACE designations, including:
- Low Income Housing Tax Credit ACE with three designation options available
- Housing and Urban Development Multifamily ACE
- HOME Investment Partnerships Program ACE
- Layered Programs ACE
- NSPIRE ACE
- Rural Development ACE
Are there any fees to take the exam?
Yes. Exam fees apply and vary depending on the designation you are pursuing.
Will I have to take an exam to earn the designation?
Yes. Each ACE compliance designation requires passing an exam. The exam includes 80 questions, and a score of 80 percent is required to pass. Question formats include multiple choice, fill in the blank, and true or false.
The exam is open book, and you will have three hours to complete it. The time begins when you start the exam. If the exam is not completed within three hours, it will be marked as incomplete. Exams are not automatically reassigned.
What happens if I happen to fail the exam, can I retake the exam?
If you do not reach the required passing score, you may purchase a retake exam.
Will I receive a certificate for passing the exam?
Yes. After you pass the exam, you can download and save a PDF certificate recognizing your achievement.
Does the designation expire or is it permanent?
ACE Designations are valid for one year from the date they are earned. Each year, US Housing Consultants will notify you when your designation is nearing expiration.
To maintain an active designation, you must complete eight hours of continuing education in the applicable housing program through US Housing Consultants each year. Because program rules and guidance can change, this requirement helps ensure credential holders stay current. You will also need to pay the annual renewal fee and submit documentation confirming your eight hours of continuing education.
