April is National Fair Housing Month! This year, we commemorate the 56th anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act, the landmark civil rights law signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson on April 11, 1968, that made discrimination in housing transactions unlawful.

This course is much more than technical explanations and history. In our Conquering Fair Housing Compliance webinar, we break down the rules but also show how these laws impact management professionals.  We will demonstrate fair housing rules and law by showing practical examples and exercises.

As we know, maintenance professionals play a critical role in ensuring the success of a multi-family housing property. While most maintenance professionals receive training on maintaining the asset, Fair Housing training is often overlooked for these professionals.

While maintenance staff may not process applications or accept rent, they definitely interact with residents and even applicants.

As vital players of the property management team, maintenance staff need to be equipped with information and guidance on ensuring that their actions never result in discrimination.

Randy McCall, Housing Compliance Trainer, will begin with an overview of the Fair Housing Act before moving on to focus in on areas specifically applicable to maintenance professionals. Randy will include proactive measures that can be taken when entering apartments, interacting with residents, evaluating work order policies and procedures and dealing with reasonable modifications.
