Meet Compliance Analyst Niki Lathrop
From her Seattle-area home, US Housing Consultants Compliance Analyst Niki Lathrop talked about what it means to be part of a family.
“This is the closest that I think a company can come to being and feeling like a family, you know? So, it’s pretty cool,” she said.
Lathrop’s path to her new family began in 2018 when she got a job as a leasing agent.
“I really liked auditing and filing and doing all the paperwork,” she said. So, after two years, I got promoted to assistant manager, and then a year after that, I got promoted to property manager. And then I got to a point where I was like, I really want to focus on what I like about the job, which is I love auditing files.”
She likens auditing files to solving puzzles, putting them together, and picking them apart. In pursuit of a new puzzle, Lathrop spent a year and a half looking for a new career path. Then, a position with US Housing Consultants popped up.
And it felt perfect.
“I cried in the interview,” she said. “It took so long to get here like it was a ‘meant to be’ sort of thing,” Lathrop said. “I don’t know how to explain it, but I just feel like this is where I’m supposed to be, you know?”
Since starting with the company in June 2024, Lathrop says her experience has proven her intuition right.
“I got to meet all the bigwigs,” she said. “I got to talk to [the executives], and that was just so surreal to me because that hasn’t happened before. It was just so cool to talk to them and have coffee with Jim [CEO Jim Campanella]. I like that dynamic, but just because they’re the CEO doesn’t mean they’re closed off to me.”
But it’s the work itself that Lathrop enjoys most.
“Honestly, I love that I get to just audit files all day,” she said. “That’s my job, just to do puzzles and audit, and I get to be my introverted self and work from home and just focus on what I love to do.”
